Smooth Wordpress Theme Question

Hi there. I'm not sure if you can help me. I've downloaded and am attempting to edit the Smooth theme for Wordpress. Very clean code, as far as I can tell -- it's been extremely easy to work with and made me a fan of My Tapestry, but I'm having a couple of problems.

Mainly, I'd like to increase the size of the content column. I've removed the sidebars and someone mentioned wrap size but I can't get the content to widen without putting it completely out of its place.

Also, there are headers being used that I can't seem to edit. I'd like to change the color from a purple gradient to a deep red but I'm having trouble finding the lines dealing with this.

I'm really new at this sort of thing so please, try not to mock me too badly :)

Thank you!

Okay, this is what I'm apparently looking to change for the header issue:

    Welcome

I can't find this line anywhere in the stylesheet. What am I missing?

Content column is declared as #content, take a look in style.css

Titles' colors are declared in the file js/functions.js (Cufon)
